I don't understand.
I was in Phoenix on Dec 5th, it was raining, 57df, and I was Cold & Miserable. I had to dress in layers and jacket and I still couldn't get warm.
Today in Metro DC, it is raining and 59df. I am only a bit chilled where I got wet from the rain. It feels warm-ish and I have about the same layers and jacket.

And you can't say "it's the humidity".... it was RAINING in both places.

A symptom of my weather junkie addiction often leads me this website.

seems it was noticed that i have been more than out of touch lately. And not just during my last two weeks of illness from the incapacitating-head-cold-from-phoenix-rains.
I will admit I have let my new 'grown-up' job keep me distracted as much as my own personal depression and lack of motivation.
I will see what I can do about this and get back into the balanced pace of life that includes time for myself to reconnect with my friends and family. Winters can be sooooo hard for someone who just wants to hibernate during these minimal sunlight days.
The motto "Healer, heal thyself" is appropriately applied here.

Leo (July 23-August 22) for week 12/16
Many spiritual teachers say you're most likely to succeed at meditation if you sit quietly in a sanctuary. They believe you need to retreat from the world in order to develop compassionate objectivity about life. The eighteenth-century Zen Buddhist teacher Hakuin Ekaku had a different view. "Meditation in the midst of activity is a billion times superior to meditation in stillness" was his motto. I agree with him. But one of the reasons it's superior is because it's so much harder. Have you ever tried to see God in your boss while he or she is yelling at you about some trivial mistake? Are you able to remain open-hearted to a loved one when he or she isn't being open-hearted to you? Believe it or not, Leo, you could go a long way towards mastering these skills in 2005. It'll be prime time to learn how to meditate in the midst of the daily chaos.

[livejournal.com profile] chadu was correct. The Incredibles is an AWESOME movie. It's been years since I've enjoyed a movie enough to say "I want to see this again!"
Actually paying to see it again as opposed to waiting for a DVD release.

I wonder if I can take my nieces or nephews. One at a time, of course ;)

I did go down to the BookFest on the mall. It really was too good a day to pass away in the basement on a computer. (opps, sorry rikk)
Probably did too much walking around with the 2 lovely friends I did run into while wandering around. And missed catching up with a few other I hear about later. And I didn't get in to hear the author talks. I hung out at the edge of a few, but never really felt drawn in. And after all the time to get down there and walking around, I missed hearing Pohl or Gaiman talk. Ah well, it was time well spent.

I want to attend the Library of Congress BookFest on the Mall today.
I also need to complete 3 workshop writeups, clear part of the house for new windown installation (next week), and the usual weekend cleaning projects. And I have Great Plans that I need to be available by around 5pm today.

ALTHOUGH SEAWEED IS GOOD FOR YOU, the seaweed salad you get at a sushi restaurant isn't health food. Its main ingredient is wakame, which has plenty of calcium, iron, niacin, and thiamine. But some other ingredients dilute the salad's nutritional profile while enhancing its taste. The other ingredients are agar, sesame oil, cloud ear mushrooms, sesame seeds, distilled vinegar, high-fructose corn syrup, sugar, salt, red pepper flakes, kelp extract, and yellow and blue food coloring. A serving just shy of three ounces has 100 calories, 1 g of protein, 5 g of fat, a whopping 1,200 mg of sodium, 11 g sugar, only about 70 mg of calcium, and less than 1 mg of iron.

Tivo has not "changed how I watch TV". It has only helped me identify my bad TV Habit. So far, TIVO has only provided me the opportunity to see how much I just vegg in front of the TV. Sure, I record things that I want to watch, but I'm still just flipping channels after I'm done with a recorded show.

I have an interesting challenge before me to figure out why I watch TV like this and see if I really want to change that habit. I must be getting something from it, right?

There was no great media search for a lottery winner that hadn't stepped forward from last weeks drawing.
Kind of sad when I realize that I had a ticket from last week and this means it is probably not a winner.

Or maybe I should say, a friend of the same addiction as I have.

It is by caffeine alone I set my mind in motion...
It is by the beans of java that the thoughts acquire speed
the hands acquire shaking
the shaking is a warning...

This morning I was listen the Glen Velez CD- Rhythms of the Chakras, drumming for the body's energy -. http://www.glenvelez.com/rhythmschakras.php
I reminds me a lot of the online flashpage of drums and little people.

I also made me thinking fondly of the shaman-friend out in the deserts. Hi shaman-friend! wishing you good drumming thoughts!
