CD auction by Radio Paradise
Jul. 10th, 2005 01:56 pmRadio Paradise, my favorite online radio station and connection to sanity at work, is auctioning off part of their CD collection.
The price is already out of my range, but I'm glad they will get a lot for the sale of the CDs. Radio Paradise is on of the few internet sites that I do budget to support.

Robert A. Heinlein
Jun. 17th, 2005 04:37 pmMaybe this has been mentioned before and I missed it...
The Robert A. Heinlein Centennial
http://www.heinleincentennial.com/event.html
The Robert A. Heinlein Centennial will be a major event with at least four distinct "tracks" within its confines. We expect more than 3,000 visitors to participate.

A rare meme moment from me
Jun. 6th, 2005 12:17 pmI know I've been quiet for a long while, but I thought I'd throw this up anyway.
1. What's the first word that comes to mind when you think of me?
2. Go to http://images.google.com/ and search for that word.
3. Reply to this post with one of the pictures on the first page of results (don't tell me the word, I want to try and guess).
4. Put this in your own LJ so that I can do the same.

Universal call
May. 6th, 2005 09:38 pmWe just arrived in Asheville NC for our weekend w/Mom.
As we are driving the long way home from dinner, (down the river road, through a tunnel, meandering past the parks and avoiding the malls), we drive through the middle of the 'city'. At the very center, in the little sitting park, there is a drum circle ! Awesome sounds of jimbes and other drums echoing off the buildings. A small group of college looking folks drumming away. With a small crowd of people just hanging around enjoying. Especially the very young kids. It is amazing to watch children who almost instinctually know that the sound of the drumming is a sign to move and be free of the cares of the world.
This is a good start to the weekend.

Mar. 31st, 2005 09:16 pm![]() | You scored as Techie. You are backstege, and building the set. Watch out for that stage manager! You probably know the lines better than the actors...that's nothing new. Keep up the good work!

The Virginia General Assembly seems to think we need a law to protect us from indecent underwear displays.
This targets the low riding pants of young men. And while I might not appreciate the style, (makes it impossible to admire cute butts), I really don't think we need a LAW against this. I have to wonder how many staffers will be upset when they realize that this would also mean women showing off the back of their thong underwear would also be breaking the law. I bet there are never any complaints about THAT occasional view.
Yesh!

Be an informed Virginia citizen
Jan. 7th, 2005 04:59 pmI'm seeing lots of posts about the new proposed legislation by Delegate John A. Cosgrove(R) - House District 78 (City of Chesapeake (part)) about HB 1677 Fetal death; report by mother, penalty.
I offer you to follow the progress of this bill on the Virginia Legislation Site. It will track all changes and alterations to this bill. You can look up and track any past or present VA bills and see how the original proposed bill gets mangled into the law that gets signed. (really, some of these get messed up beyond recognition.)
Here is Cosgrove's contact info for any email or fax numbers if you would like to comment directly. You can also look up your local representative and notify them of your position on this bill.
NOTE: so far, there are no other patrons listed for this house bill.
